SALUTE TO SERVICE VETERAN'S DAY '22
The Scituate Food Pantry Veteran's Day was a true celebration of our Scituate Veterans. The Pantry's Event, in conjunction with the American Legion Post 144's Dinner, was a smashing success! When the Dinner concluded everyone came to get their hot beverage of choice, scrumptious desserts, gifts, and then sat back and enjoyed the wonderful music of SOLDIERS SONGS AND VOICES followed by the WSU BLUEGRASS BAND. The pictures don't capture the joy that abounded today but trust me, Veteran's Day 2022 was truly celebrated! The SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY is excited!!!! November 11th is the Day that we CELEBRATE our VETERAN’S in a very special way. If you’re a VETERAN or you know a VETERAN please extend them the following invitation to the SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY’S 3rd ANNUAL “SALUTE TO SERVICE” Celebration! Join with the Scituate Food Pantry Volunteers
for Food, Music and Gifts. Several of our volunteers recently attended the Scituate Accessibility Awareness Open House held 10/22/22 at the Scituate HS gym. The event was organized by the Scituate Commission on Disabilities and over 30 Massachusetts, South Shore and Scituate agencies were invited to attend. This event provided us the opportunity to advertise our services to attendees, as well as other local agencies, such as our fire and police departments along with South Shore Elder Services and others in attendance. These local agencies
were given information cards to have available to make referrals when they are interacting with their clients or people in need. In addition, we were able to learn from several of the other agencies on what specific services they provide that may be beneficial to our clients. The SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY was delightedly surprised when it recently received the notification from STOP & SHOP in Cohasset that it had been designated as the October recipient for Stop & Shop’s “BLOOMIN’ 4 GOOD” campaign. During the month of October Stop & Shop will donate $1.00 to the Scituate Food Pantry from all of the $10.99 “Bloomin” 4 Good” bouquets that are sold. Now that all of our flower gardens have pretty much “gone by” this would be a wonderful opportunity to bring fresh flowers into your home and, at the same time, know that by doing so you are helping the SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY to achieve its goal of Eliminating Food Insecurity in our wonderful Town. Thank you, STOP & SHOP for your generosity!!!!
Shaw's Market in Cohasset is "the Gift that keeps on giving"!
The SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY is again the recipient of a grant from the Nourishing Neighbors and @Starmarket Foundation. Requests for food donations are increasing every single day. @Starmarket @Shaws Foundation has stepped up again. The SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY is so appreciative to Shaw's for its continued effort to fight hunger in Scituate. Shaw's weekly donations along with the Nourishing Neighbor grants are helping the PANTRY to achieve its goal of eliminating Food Insecurity in Scituate. Pictured are Pantry volunteers Frank Kilduff, Mary Struzziero and Jack Radley along with Shaw's Management team Lisa Coash and Ed Sullivan. Amazing things happen when people like the folks @shaws and @Starmarket Foundation get involved! A check in the amount of $12,100.00 was presented to the SCITUATE FOOD PANTRY from Shaw's Market in Cohasset to continue providing food for families in Scituate. The grant is part of Shaw's and Star Market's Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief Initiative to fight Food Insecurity. The need is great, but so are our supporters. Thank you, Shaw's and Star Market Foundation, we are glad to be part of the
Nourishing Neighbors Family! The check was presented to Volunteers of the Scituate Food Pantry - Jack Radley, Elizabeth LeBlanc, and Mary Struzierro by the Shaw's Management Team Lisa Coash and Ed Sullivan. QUILT RAFFLE - All proceeds will be donated to the Pantry.
This absolutely stunning and expertly crafted Quilt was made by Martha Johnson. Martha is the mother-in-law of Sandy Johnson, best known as “Mrs. Goodie” from Goodies II in Scituate Harbor. Mrs. Johnson wanted to help the Scituate Food Pantry so she used her perfectly honed sewing skills and created this 50” x 60” quilt to be raffled off on Friday, April 15th. To purchase a raffle ticket, visit Goodies II on Front Street, and take a chance, or two on this beautiful quilt. ($1 per raffle ticket) Thank you Mrs. Johnson for your extraordinary generosity and thoughtfulness. During the Food Pantry's Open House, Senator Patrick O'Connor arrived and presented Marie Murray, the Pantry’s Head of Operations, an Official Citation from the Massachusetts Senate which stated... “In Recognition of the Opening of the Scituate Food Pantry and Your Outstanding Contribution to the Community”.
